Holy FUCK, my ovaries just IMPLODED.
what always made me happy about this, besides the whole Nathan Fillion with no shirt on thing, was the attention to continuity. (-Spoiler Alert for non-Browncoats-) Those scars aren’t just random war hero turned illegal smuggler i get shot and stabbed a lot scars (although you would think someone in that line of work would have a shitload more scars than this). The one near his shoulder is from 1x2 of Firefly (The Train Job) where the dude throws his huge knife at Mal and then there’s a nice scene after he kicks the dude into one of Serenity’s engines (that was an engine, right?), where Simon is stitching him up and they have a nice talk about how Simon drugged Jayne, which nicely segues into River being crazy, as usual. The scar in the middle is from 1x10 (War Stories) when Niska captures and tortures the fuck out of Mal and Wash. After Zoe comes to the rescue and he makes her pick one or the other and she chooses Wash (naturally. Not even so much because he was her husband and she loves him, but because she knew Mal could survive longer than Wash could. let’s be honest here), before the rest of the crew comes back to rescue Mal, Niska get’s that fucked up arc reactor looking electrocute-y thing into Mal’s hansom chest.
Just another reason I love Joss Whedon. He does not underestimate his fans. He knows that we are just as obsessed and detail oriented as he is, and we are the types who get a sick satisfaction out of pointing out continuity errors.
