he told me that the in school news program they show in homeroom, Channel One News is actually covering Occupy Wall Street almost every day. I pointed him to that video of Roseanne Barr speaking at Occupy Wall Street (he knows who she is because he fell in love with Roseanne when Nick-at-Night started syndicating it) and told him that there is an Occupy Phoenix going on. He replied that he knew and that he and our mother wanted to go.
as much as I might fight with my family, this conversation has made me very happy.
my mom:
we got Chinese take-out and watched Firefly. Not a bad way to spend a birthday if you ask me. And of course I forgot to take a picture of the cross-stitch I made him. I also stuck a letter I wrote him in the back of the frame. I intended for him to find it on his own, but something tells me he won’t be that clever.
When we were at the take-out place, there was this woman there, also waiting for her food. She was on the larger side and mid to late 50’s. She had on an orange star fish printed mumu, and the arm holes where so big you could see right in and she wasn’t wearing a bra. I ended up absent mindedly staring at the side of this woman’s naked boob for 5 minutes.
I wanted to find a way to give my brother a copy of the audio book version of The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins and Letting Go Of God by Julia Sweeney as he recently “came out” as an Atheist. but my mom would have freaked out. another time, when she’s not around.
my mother informed me that she found texts on my 14 year old brother’s cell phone where he suggested that his friend should rape his friend’s ex-girlfriend.
she proceeded to read me some PMs between my brother and this same friend from facebook, along with other text messages, where they both suggested raping specific girls from school several times.
I can’t even repeat what they said.
I want to throw up.
This is the same boy who once tore his friends apart for using the word rape flippantly.
