Starlite Motel! I grew up just a few miles away from this… she was knocked over by a microburst a few years ago and the owners have been trying to raise the money to get her properly repaired ever since. They’ve been displaying pieces at local malls to try to drum up interest. It was cool to see her up close (each lady is huge! about the length of a large storefront), but I hope I see the sign back, all lit up, on Main Street again someday.

It’s a win-win situation, you get to see a mystery grab bag of Phoenix comedians, dancers, singers, poets, puppeteers, jugglers…basket weavers?

Who: YOU!! Do you have a talent, or no talent at all, as long as you have $5 and arrive at Soul Invictus* at 6pm, you have a slot You can bring one CD. You will have exactly 5 minutes, this includes set up and break down of your act. Think we are kidding? Not hardly, the lights and sound will be cut at exactly 5 minutes. We want a variety of performances, anything goes: squeaky clean, blue as ‘ell, good, bad, ugly, weird, conventional, etc.** If you have a question, ask. Nudity is allowed, alcohol is not. ***
Why: Summer in Arizona is hot. In an effort to better serve you, our loyal viewers, and art lovers, we are asking you to join us for one night of mayhem and mystery to enjoy something new, and keep our doors open for the tried and true things you love about Soul Invictus. Like its resident theater troupes and gallery, which showcases local artists.

*Soul Invictus is: A performance space specializing in theatre performances that feature local writers. Home to Th[Sic] Sense Sketch Comedy Troupe, Arizona Curriculum Theatre and Soul Invictus Productions. In front of the performance space is a one of a kind art gallery featuring a new local visual artist each month. Occasional First Friday events contain performances, bands and nude painting. This place is not for the easily offended :)
